Other NoteBorn at North Cave, Yorkshire to Thomas Ness, husbandman on 26 December 1621. Attended St. John's College, Cambridge where he graduated BA, in 1642.; preached at South Cliff, Holderness, and Beverley (East Riding, Yorkshire); rector at Cottingham (1651-) and preacher at Leeds (1656-). Ejected in 1662 and preached privately in Clayton, Morley, and Hunslet, Yorkshire. He was licensed as an independent in 1672 and started a church in Leeds in 1674, but fled to London due to ongoing controversy. He preached in London at Salisbury Court, Fleet Street, and Woodmongers' Hall, Duke's Place as well as publishing religious texts. Died 26 December 1705. His will, dated 21 April 1701 names his daughters Mary Newby and Elizabeth Beaumont, but nothing is known of his wife.
