Contents Noteff. 2r-42br contains notes for meditations or sermons on Christ’s passion, loosely based on Luke 18:31-33, although many other Scriptural verses are also cited. The notes are divided up into discrete observations on specific themes, but they are not numbered in a logical sequence. The notes begin: ‘obser. 1a . Tis unreasonable that the Lord should die, and his seruants not know of it'. ff. 45r-83r is a series of twelve consecutive observations also on the Passion of Christ, complete with a contents page on f. 45r. These are based on Biblical exegesis and passages are also cited from ancient and contemporary authorities, notably Lancelot Andrewes’s Passion Sermons.
Material FeaturesThe handwriting of this manuscript is distinctive, with peculiar D, d, g, T, and t. The entire volume is really 87 leaves because 1 and 42 are double.

Other NoteThese appear to be notes or observations made by a preacher, but they could also be the observations or meditations of a pious lay person. Their sequential nature supports their attribution to a cleric, however.
