Other NotePaul Micklethwaite was born in 1589, the younger son of Thomas Micklethwaite, vicar of Plumstead. The exact date of his birth is unknown. He was educated at the King's School, Canterbury. On 27 June 1606, aged seventeen, he was admitted as a scholar at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1610. He proceeded M.A. at Sidney Sussex College in 1613. He was also awarded the degrees of B.D. and D.D. in 1620 and 1628, respectively. He was appointed Master of the Temple by Charles I in 1628. Two years later, he became a royal chaplain. Micklethwaite was also Rector of Herstmonceux, East Sussex and Sandy, Bedfordshire, holding both livings until his death on 7 August 1639. He is best remembered today for his bequest of 73 Hebrew books to Sidney Sussex College.
