Other NoteAbraham Pryme was born on 15 January 1671 at Hatfield in the West Riding of Yorkshire. He was admitted pensioner, aged nineteen, at St John's College, Cambridge on 2 May 1690. Pryme graduated B.A. in January 1693/4. Shortly after, he was ordained deacon at Peterborough on 23 September 1694, and priest at York in September 1698. He was curate of Boughton, Lincolnshire (which he resigned in November 1697), curate and reader at Holy Trinity, Kingston-upon-Hull and, from 1 September 1701, vicar of Thorne in the West Riding of Yorkshire. He was a keen antiquarian, and was elected a fellow of the Royal Society on 18 March 1702. Pryme died on 13 June 1704 and was buried at Hatfield.
