Other NoteJohn Chichester was born c. 1519/20, the son of Edward Chichester of Great Torrington. He was elected to Parliament in 1547. In 1550, he became sheriff of Devon. Chichester was knighted on 2 October 1553. He also served as recorder of Barnstaple in the mid-1550s. Sir John Chichester died on 30 November 1568.
