Other NoteJames Calfhill (Calfeld or Calfide) supplicated for his B.A. from Christ Church, Oxford in 1548 and his M.A. in 1551.He served as Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity from 1564 and proceeded D.D. in 1656. He was made rector of St. Andrew Wardrobe (London) and canon of St. Paul's in 1562, archdeacon of Colchester and rector of Bocking in 1565, and rector of West Horsley (Surrey) in 1569. Calfhill was selected for the bishopric of Worcester in the summer of 1570, but died suddenly before taking up the appointment. He was the author of several translations and original works of verse and drama in both Latin and English.
