Other NoteEdward Simpson was born at Tottenham, Middlesex on 9 May 1578, the son of Edward Simpson, rector of the parish. He was educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1601. He was made a Fellow of the College in the same year, and proceeded M.A. in 1604. In 1611, he was awarded the degree of B.D. In the same year, he became chaplain to Sir Moyle Finch, a post he held until 1614. He was instituted to the rectory of Eastling (Kent) on 2 January 1617, and Pluckley (Kent) in 1628. Simpson was awarded the degree of D.D. in 1624. His publications include Edwardi Simsoni Mosaica (1636) and Chronicon historiam catholicam, &c. (1652). Edward Simpson died in 1651, and was buried on 9 June at Eastling.
