Other NoteThe exact date of birth of Paul Hobson is unknown. He did not attend university, but was a tailor by trade. By 1644, Hobson had organised a Particular Baptist Church. It was around this time that he served as captain in Charles Fleetwood's regiment in the Eastern Association Army. In June 1645, Hobson was arrested at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire for preaching contrary to Westminster Assembly regulations. His publications during the 1640s included The Fallacy of Infants Baptisme Discovered (London, 1645) and Practicall Divinity, &c. (London, 1646). His friends included the Leveller leader John Lilburne. After the Restoration, Hobson was suspected of plotting against the monarchy. His will was proved on 13 June 1666.
