Other NoteThe exact date of birth of Thomas Ashenden is unknown. Originally from Canterbury, he was educated at Wye before being admitted sizar, aged sixteen, at St John’s College, Cambridge, on 5 June 1665. He graduated B.A. in 1668/9, was elected Fellow in 1670, and proceeded M.A. in 1672. On 20 June 1675, he was ordained priest at Ely; shortly after, he was instituted to the rectory of Dingley, Northamptonshire. He held this post until 1683. He was prebend of Armargh from 1686 until his death in 1723.
