Other NoteThe exact date of birth of Christopher Hunter is not known. He was baptised on 8 July 1675, and attended school at Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham. On 11 April 1693, Christopher Hunter was admitted pensioner, aged eighteen, at St John's College, Cambridge. He graduated M.B. in 1698. His practice was at Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, and latterly at Durham. He was elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries on 15 December 1725 in recognition of his rigorous antiquarian pursuits. His extracurricular interests also included botany. On 12 July 1757, Christopher Hunter died at Shotley, Northumberland, and was buried in Shotley Church.
