Other NoteJohn Jegon was born at Coggeshall, Essex, on 6 December 1550. Jegon attended the local grammar school before matriculating at Queens' College, Cambridge on 25 October 1567. He graduated B.A. in 1572 and was elected a fellow. On 11 July 1573, he was ordained deacon and priest at Peterborough. Subsequently, he was instituted to the rectory of St Botolph, Cambridge, in 1574. Afterwards, from 1588, he served as rector of Redmile, Leicestershire. Jegon proceeded M.A. in 1590, resigning from his fellowship in the same year and becoming master of Corpus Christi College. In 1595, he was instituted to the rectory of Beckingham, Lincolnshire. On 22 July 1601, he became dean of Norwich; less than two years later, he was consecrated bishop. Jegon died at Aylsham in Norfolk on 13 March 1618, and was buried at Aylsham church.
