ShelfmarkMS Sancroft 131
Creation Date1635 -
RepositoryBodleian Library
Contents NoteTitled "Liber Sermonum in ecclesia parochiali Sancti Buttolphi extra Algate Anno: 1635: incepte Jan. I" (Book of sermons [preached] in the parish church of St Botolph without Aldgate, in the year 1635, having begun Jan.1). Although this manuscript was part of the personal collection of Archbishop William Sancroft, it is unlikely that these are his own notes: Sancroft had just matriculated at Oxford the previous year, and had no known association with the parish of St. Botolph without Aldgate in London. Furthermore, the summary catalogue does not make any mention of this manuscript being in Sancroft's hand, as it does for other manuscripts in this collection.
Material FeaturesIn English, on paper. 4 3/8 x 3 3/8 inches, iii+ 210 leaves. After f.103 some leaves are gone: ff.143-207 are blank. In an extremely small and distinctive hand.
Associated Peoplemanuscript owner - Sancroft (Sandcroft) the younger, William
