ProvenanceIn the Wesley family papers, which were originally held at City Road Chapel in London, where manuscripts relating to the family were collected from shortly after the death of John Wesley in 1791. Over the next 175 years the collection was regularly augmented by private collectors including Russell J. Colman and Edmund Sykes Lamplough, so that the present collection represents a composite of many deposits of varying sizes. In 1977 the archive was transferred to the John Rylands University Library of Manchester, where it was combined with the Libraries own holdings.
