AcquisitionDr Thomas Smith left his manuscripts at his death to Thomas Hearne, on condition that sixteen should go to the Bodleian at Hearne's death. Subsequently, Hearne left all his manuscripts, including the remaining Smith volumes, to William Bedford. Richard Rawlinson purchased them from Bedford's widow for £105 (c. 1748).
