GEMMS: Gateway to Early Modern Manuscript Sermons
GEMMS IDGEMMS-MANUSCRIPT-000571
TitleSermons and Religious Subjects
ShelfmarkMS PQK 1/2
Creation Dateca. 1600 - 1750
Contents NoteThe manuscript contains a wide range of materials, some dating from the very early years of the 17th century to about the middle of the 18th century. Notes of sermons by Thomas Gataker, John King, George Carew, and others (Item 1), as well as a two sermons (items 17 and 21) are entered from this collection, although the two complete sermons are not dated and one, at least, appears from the handwriting to be outside the period covered by GEMMS.
Material FeaturesSome of the brief notes in Item 1 are not included because the text is difficult to construe and there is no other significant information available. Several such notes, identifiable as preached by Dr. [John] King, are otherwise incomprehensible. Another by a preacher from the Temple is similarly difficult to construe.
