Other NoteHenry Burton was born c. 1578 in Birdsall, Yorkshire; he was baptised on 9 October of that year. He was educated at St John's College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1600 and proceeding M.A. in 1603. He was incorporated at Oxford in 1612. Burton became rector of St Matthew's, Friday Street on 3 October 1621, holding the post until 1637. He was convicted of 'seditious preaching' and imprisoned and pilloried with William Prynne and John Bastwick, losing his ears. Burton was buried at St Mary Aldermanbury on 7 January 1648.
