Other NoteBiographer, literary critic, and author. Born in Shinglas, co. Westmeath, Ireland. Member of Irish House of Commons. Made Baron Sunderlin in 1785. He left his library to his brother, Lord Sunderlin, upon his death in 1812. Lord Sunderlin then donated some of Malone's texts to the Bodleian in 1815; they were received in 1821. ODNB and the online Bodleian catalogue differ on the date of his death; ODNB puts it on 25 May but the Bodleian catalogue puts it on 25 April.
