Other NoteSharp graduated BA in 1663 and MA 1667 from Christ's College, Cambridge. He became D.D. in 1679. He was promoted to the archdeaconry of Berkshire in 1673 before appointments to a prebendary in Norwich and the rectory of St Giles in the Fields, London. In 1691 he became Archbishop of York. Sharp appears to be the "Sharpe" identified by Joseph Keble as the preacher of four sermons at Gray's Inn in MS. Rawl. E. 209. The first refers to him as "Mr Sharpe" and the rest as "Dr Sharpe"; John Sharp became D.D. in 1679, the year the manuscript was written, so presumably these all refer to him.
