Other NoteEvans was an antiquary, some of his works having been posthumously published in Elias Ashmole's The Antiquities of Berkshire (1719). Date of birth unknown, but Evans was baptized on 19 February 1631. B.A. (1649/50), M.A. (1653), D.D. (1665) from Jesus College, Cambridge, and fellow there (1650-1658). Canon of Windsor Castle from 1660 until his death in 1701/2. Vicar of New Windsor, Berkshire, 1663. Rector of St Benet Fink, London, 1663-1693. Rector of Hitcham, Buckinghamshire, 1667-1701/2. He is perhaps the preacher of two sermons mentioned by Joseph Keble in M.S. Rawl. E. 210, preached at Gray's Inn in 1696-1697, one of which he ascribes to "Mr Evans" and the other to "Dr Evans".
