Other NoteFl. c. 1639-1697. Date of birth unknown, but Charnock matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford in 1639/40 at age 15. Vicar of Monmouth, Wales beginning in 1653. He is perhaps the Charnock mentioned by Joseph Keble in MS. Rawl. E. 210 as the preacher of a sermon at Gray's Inn in 1697, as he seems to be the only preacher named Charnock/Chernock active in 1697, according to ODNB, AO (Foster), ACAD (Venn), CCEd, and SI. However, there is little information available about him, including whether he was even still alive by 1697, so this identification is uncertain.
