Other NoteAlthough the career details are patchy, it seems likely that the Thomas Upton in SI and AO are the same person. According to AO, he was born ca. 1619 to John Upton of Waters Upton, Shropshire. Matriculated from Magdalen College, 1637; BA, 1640. The Westminster Assembly proposed him for the rectory of Brereton, Cheshire in 1646. SI indicates he was rector of Holy Trinity, Chester, 1648-1660. Subsequently lived at Little Neston and Overton, Flintshire. Buried at Overton, 13 March 1674 (old).
