Other NoteJoseph Naylor was born at Wakefield, Yorkshire, in 1594. He matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1611, graduating B.A. in 1614/1615. He was awarded an M.A. from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, in 1618, proceeding B.D. in 1625 (at which time, he was also ordained in Peterborough) and D.D. in 1636. He was a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College in the 1630s. Naylor was rector of Howick, Northumberland, in 1632-1636, archdeacon of Northumberland in 1634-1636, and a prebend of Durham in 1636-1668. He died at Sedgefield, County Durham, on 6 January 1667, aged 72.
