Other Notefl. 1663, in which year he preached a sermon at Halifax. There were several preachers named John Doughty who were active around this time, some of whom had ties to Yorkshire. The most likely candidates are John Doughty (b. 1635), who went to school in Sedbergh, Yorkshire and was probably ordained as a deacon on 1661 (ACAD [Venn], ID: DTY652J); John Doughty, curate of Plumtree, Nottinghamshire, 1662-1663 (CCEd, ID: 87829), and John Doughty, schoolmaster of Hipperholme Free Grammar School, 1662, and of Halifax Free Grammar School, 1665 (CCEd, ID: 145591).
