Other NoteLittle is known about his family background. He was born around 1629 and matriculated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1646. Graduated BA in 1649, then MA in 1653. Afterwards chaplain to Oliver Cromwell and preacher to the Council of State. He held universalist views and refrained from religious disputes. Nevertheless, he refused to conform to the Church of England at the Restoration. He was thereafter a prominent member of the Calve's Head Club, a republican secret society, in London. He was also an active preacher in nonconformist congregations in the city. He was an occasional preacher at a church in Meetinghouse Alley, Queen Street, Lower Rotherhithe. He was assistant to Robert Bragge in his congregationalist meeting house at Pewterer's Hall. According to several manuscripts with which he is associated he also appears to have frequently preached at a congregation on Fetter Lane, ca. 1694-5. Died 11 March 1707. His treatise on universal salvation, The Restoration of All Things, was published posthumously.
