Other NoteJohn Lavender, originally from Lincolnshire, matriculated at Queen's College, Cambridge in 1627. He graduated B.A. in 1630/1 and proceeded M.A. in 1634. He preached at Kelvedon, Essex in 1637 until 1641. In 1643, he became Rector of High Ongar, Essex, but was ejected in 1662. He died at High Ongar on 23 April 1670, aged fifty-nine. His floor slab is still extant at St. Mary's Church, High Ongar.
