Other NoteAlso known as James Booker. From Lancashire, he was schooled in Manchester and then admitted sizar at Emmanuel College, Cambridge on 28 June 1651. He graduated BA in 1654/5 and MA in 1658. He was probably minister of Caton, Lancashire from 1657 to 1662. Held was perpetual curate at Blackley, Lancashire ca. 1662. He remained a nonconformist until he was ordained as deacon at Chester on 15 November 1670 and as a priest at York on 22 September 1672. He was then curate of Whitley, Cheshire from 1685 and rector of Taxall, Cheshire from 1690 to 1703. He lived in Blackley. Father of Ralph (b. 1661) and James (b. 1665) (ACAD Venn ID: BWKR678R and BWKR684J, respectively).
