Other NoteAn antiquarian who was archdeacon of Lewes for thirty years. Born in Pilton in 1661, the son of Philip Bowchier. He was educated at Shirwell School and St John's College, Camb., graduating BA in 1680, MA in 1683 and BD in 1691. He was vicar of Amport from 1703 and was appointed to the Prebendary of Thorney at Chichester cathedral in 1694, and from 1695 held the canon residency. He was archdeacon of Lewes from 1693 to his death. He married Anne Buckenham.
