Other NoteEdward Tenison was baptised at Norwich on 3 April 1673. He was educated at St Paul's School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1695 and proceeding LL.B. in 1697. However, opting for a career in the church instead of law, he was ordained deacon and priest in the same year, becoming rector of Wittersham, Kent. In 1698, he resigned this rectory upon institution to the rectories of Sundridge, Kent and Chiddingstone, Kent. He was awarded the degree of D.D. in 1714. In 1730, Tenison became chaplain to the duke of Dorset, who nominated him to the bishopric of Ossory a year later. Tenison died in Dublin on 29 November 1735 and was buried at St Mary's Church.
