Other NoteBaptized 17 September 1643, the eldest son of and heir of Sir Charles Howard, baronet (d. 1673), of the manor of Eastwick, and his wife, Frances, daughter of Sir George Courthope. Matriculated from Magdalen College, Oxford in 1661 but never graduated. Married Philadelphia, daughter of Sir Thomas Pelham, baronet, of Sussex in July 1673. They had eight children, but only three survived to adulthood. Governor of Virginia, 1683-92. His first wife died in 1685. Upon returning to England due to ill health inn 1689, he remarried Susannah, widow of Philip Harbord. Died March 30, 1695.
