Other NoteAlexander Hamilton, born c. 1626, took his degree at the University of Glasgow in 1649. He was minister of Dalmeny, West Lothian, from 2 July 1656 until his deprivation on 1 October 1662. Hamilton was restored to his post on 2 September 1669 and held this living until 1677. On 24 July 1689, he was appointed to St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh. Alexander Hamilton died in December 1696. His 'Cordial for Christians Traveling Heaven-Ward, &c.', was published in Edinburgh in 1696.
