Other NoteJohn Sanderson of Lancashire received his B.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1558 and M.A. in 1561. He was made a fellow of the college in 1560 and logic reader in 1562; however, after delivering a commonplace that caused a scandal with its Roman Catholic leanings, Sanderson was expelled from his position. Relocating to the Continent, Sanderson matriculated at Louvain in 1568 and received his D.D. from Douai sometime between 1571 and 1577 while living in Rome, during which time he was also ordained as a priest. Sanderson returned to France and likely taught theology at Rheims between 1582-3 before retiring to Cambrai. Sanderson died in 1602.
