Other NoteThe exact birth date of Thomas Jegon is unknown. Born in Coggeshall, Essex, he was the younger brother of John Jegon (1550-1619), bishop of Norwich. He matriculated pensioner from Queens' College, Cambridge in Easter 1580. Thomas Jegon graduated B.A. in 1583/4, proceeding M.A. in 1587. He was elected a fellow of Corpus Christi College in the same year. From 1593 until 1594, he served as proctor. He was instituted to several rectories from 1594, including Sible Hedingham and Ashen (Essex). In the 1600s, he also held posts as prebendary of Southwell (Nottinghamshire) and archdeacon of Norwich. Jegon was awarded the degree of D.D. in 1602. From 1603 until his death on 2 March 1618, he was master of Corpus Christi College.
