Other NoteMary Henrietta Stuart, the eldest daughter of King Charles I, was born on 4 November 1631. On 2 May 1641, she married Prince Willem II van Oranje-Nassau (1626-1650) of the Netherlands; she began to reside there in 1642. She became Princess of Orange upon the death of her husband's father in 1647. Mary gave birth to a son, William, who would become King William III of England, on 14 November 1650. Mary travelled to London upon the coronation of her brother, Charles II, in 1660. She died of smallpox shortly after.
