Other NoteFrom a Cloggeshall family, he was the 5th son of John Elliston of Black Notley. He was educated at Emmanuel and Queens' College Cambridge, gaining his BA in 1632/3 and MA in 1636. He was rector of Stanford Rivers from 1646 until he was ejected in 1662 (although Smith says ejected in 1660). He was perpetual vicar at Tillingham from 1667 and Rector at Dengie from 1678 until his death. He took out a license in 1672 to preach at his house, the Grange, Little Coggeshall.
