Other Notefl. 1682. DL3287/25/9 identifies this preacher by surname only. However, given that this surname is not too common, it seems likely that this person is Joseph Cope. Born ca. 1628, he matriculated from New Inn Hall, Oxford in 1642 before migrating to Cambridge where he graduated BA in 1545/6. He was ejected from Sandbach, Cheshire in 1662 but was reader at Chapel Chorlton, Staffordshire in 1669. Between that time and his death on 24 August 1694, he was an itinerant preacher in the region.
