Other NoteThe exact date of birth of Edmund Chapman is unknown. He matriculated sizar from Gonville Hall, Cambridge in November 1554. Chapman graduated B.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1559 and proceeded M.A. in 1562. He became a Fellow of Trinity in 1560, and was ordained deacon on 8 June 1566. He was a university preacher from 1567 until 1568. In 1569, Chapman was awarded the degree of B.D. On 16 March 1570, he became canon of Norwich, although he was deprived of this post in 1576 on the charge of nonconformity. In the autumn of 1577, he became lecturer of Dedham, Essex. On 10 July 1578, Chapman was awarded the degree of D.D. (incorporated at Oxford). Edmund Chapman died on 7 November 1602, and was buried at Dedham church on 8/9 November.
