Other NoteThe exact date of birth of Simon Bankes is not known. Originally from Cumberland, he matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford on 26 November 1596 at the age of eighteen. He graduated B.A. from St Edmund Hall on 1 July 1600, proceeding M.A. three years later. This was incorporated at Cambridge in 1605. He was instituted to the rectory of Felpham, Sussex in 1604. In 1616, he became rector of South Stoke, Sussex. His will was proved on 15 November 1642.
