Other NoteThe exact date of birth of John Salisbury is not known. He was educated at Gloucester Hall, Oxford. Before his marriage in 1554 which deprived him of all his ecclesiastical appointments, he served as archdeacon of Anglesey, rector of North Creake (Norfolk), Claydon in Suffolk, and North and South Lopham in Norfolk. However, he subsequently became rector of Diss, Norfolk, in May 1554 and was formally pardoned in October of that year. On the accession of Elizabeth I, Salisbury was restored to many of his former preferments. He was nominated bishop of Sodor and Man in 1570. Salisbury died sometime at the end of September in 1573.
