Other NoteBorn in Gasworth, Cheshire, where his father (also Henry Newcome) was minister. He had a brother, Peter. He matriculated at St Edmund Hall on 29th May 1667 at the age of 17, and gained his BA in 1670 and 1673. He was ordained in 1673 and installed as a curate and preacher at Shelsley Walsh in the same year. In 1675 he became a rector at Tattenhall 1675 and in 1687 became a schoolmaster there. He became rector at Middleton in 1701 until his death in 1714. He had a son, another Henry (CCED ID: 1266483).
