Other NoteBorn 1641 the son of John Bannatyne of Corehouse. There is little known of his early life other than Wodrow's mention of his imprisonment in 1683 for 'rebellion.' He is thought to have been licences as a preacher earlier than 1688 when he was appointed to Lesmahagow. He was a member of the assembly in 1690, 1692 and 1693, clerk of the General Assembly 1695-1699 and a member of the Commissions of 1703 and 1706. He strongly opposed the Parliamentary Union and died on 22 March 1707.
