Other NoteBorn in 1628 the second son of Adam Simson (1594-1642) minister of New Abbey, Kircudbrightshire. He was chaplain and tutor to the marquess of Argyll at Inveraray between 1649 and 1653. Having already been an observer at six general assemblies, he was ordained and inducted to Renfrew 11 November 1653. He was ejected from this post in October 1662 and after accepting the second Act of Indulgence he was appointed to Kilmacolm in 1672 but was then charged with ministering outside of his parish. He was deposed for 'keeping of conventicles.' The 1687 declaration of indulgence allowed him to be reappointed to Renfrew, which was implemented in 1690. He became Dean of Faculty at the Uni of Glasgow in 1690, maintaining the post until 1696.
