Other NoteJohn Ley (Leigh) was born on 4 February 1584 at Warwick. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, on 12 February 1602, graduating B.A. on 23 October 1605 and proceeding M.A. on 30 May 1608. In 1616, he was instituted to the vicarage of Great Budworth, Cheshire. On 4 April 1627, Ley was appointed prebend of Chester Cathedral; he also lectured at St Peter's, Chester. One of the Westminster Assembly of Divines, Ley was appointed rector of St Mary-at-Hill, London, on 27 April 1643. His final post was at Solihull, which he resigned owing to illness; he died on 16 May 1662 and was buried at Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire.
