Other NoteCharles Herle was born at Prideaux Herle, Cornwall; the exact date of birth is uncertain. He matriculated, aged fourteen, at Exeter College, Oxford on 23 October 1617. He graduated B.A. on 7 July 1615 and proceeded M.A. on 10 June 1618. In 1625, he was instituted to the rectory of Creed, Cornwall; shortly after, he became rector of Winwick, Lancashire. One of the Westminster Assembly of Divines, he was lecturer at Tothill Fields, Westminster; he was also rector of St Olave, Southwark, from April until August 1645. He returned to his living of Winwick in 1649, and was buried there on 29 September 1659.
