Other NoteThe exact date of birth of John Barlow is not known. He was born in Cheshire and matriculated at Hart Hall, University of Oxford, on 31 October 1600 at the age of nineteen. He graduated B.A. on 9 July 1608. He served as minister of Plymouth, Devon, and was also curate or lecturer at Halifax. John Barlow was the author of several works, including The Good Mans Refvge in Affliction (London, 1618), The Ioy of the Vpright Man (London, 1619), and A Seasonable Discovrse of Spirituall Stedfastnesse (London, 1627).
