Other NotePrecise date of birth unknown, but Clarkson was baptized on 3 March 1622. B.A. (1645) from Trinity College, Cambridge. M.A. (1648) from Clare College, Cambridge and fellow there beginning in 1645. Rector of Crayford, Kent beginning in 1650. Curate of Mortlake, Surrey, 1656-1661 (perhaps ejected). Thereafter assistant Samuel Clark at St Benet Fink, London until ejected in 1662. Pastor of Presbyterian/Independent congregation in Mortlake beginning in 1672. Co-pastor of Independent church at Leadenhall Street, London in 1682, and the lone pastor there after the death of co-pastor John Owen in 1683.
