DescriptionThis sermon is not written out in its entirety, but rather as detailed notes. Henry begins by putting his passage into context, describing a point in time 'just w[he]n the Jewes were upon their re:turn out of Babylon, where they had been in captivity three-score & ten yeares' (p. 1). The doctrine and first explication starts on p. 3. The application can be found on p. 13, discussing famous historical deliverances by God. 'The work of Reformation begun in ye church of God in Luther's time' is identified as a key form of deliverance (p. 14). Another example is found in 'The Rescue of this day from ye Popish Powder-Plot (pp. 15-16). Finally, a form of deliverance yet to come is described on p. 17 as 'The final Ruine of the Anti:christ'. The sermon is written in a neat, small hand, with no corrections.
