Preachings1679-04-17 - 1679-06-17 (old) - Bristol - Occasion not identified; Date of preaching is identified as the “17th day of the 4th month, 1679.” It is unclear whether these numbered months are Old or New Style, i.e. if the first month is March or January. To reflect both possibilities, the “Date Start” gives the 4th month according to the New Style (April), and the “Date End” gives the 4th month according to the Old Style (June).

Other NoteWhile there were several clergymen with the surname Weeks/Weekes active in 1679, there are two who had affiliations with Bristol as specified in this sermon: Roger Weekes (B.A. Magdalen Hall, Oxford, 1670; M.A. 1673; ordained deacon in Bristol 1673) and John Weekes (ordained 1620; licensed to preach in Bristol in 1622). The latter should not be confused with John Weeks, bishop of London and prebend of Bristol, who died in 1661. Without further information, it is not possible to identify the preacher.
