DescriptionThe scribe writes: 'This Daye happened to fall upon Wednesday, although it be reputed the Daye of the Nativity of our blessed Sauiour Jesus Christ, yet falling upon the last Wednesday in the Moneth, it was kept as a fast day, not a Feast daye in regard the last Wednesday in every Moneth by the Kings proclamation and Oridnance of Parlyament com[m]anded to be solemnly kept a Fast daye during the Warrs in Ireland. I therefore went to Stapleford Abbott our parish Church to keepe the Fast.'
