DescriptionAccording to the Tower Hamlets Archive Lists (accessible on-site only), this sermon was ‘one of the series of “May Day Lectures” instituted by Matthew Mead, the second minister of Stepney Meeting, which were preached outdoors to young people annually from 1674 - 1958’. Mead had preached on this text the previous year (cf. second leaf, recto). He proceeds, on this occasion, to provide some observations (cf. fourth leaf, recto). The application begins on the fifteenth leaf (recto). Written in a small, clear, italic hand, with catchwords at the bottom of each page.
