DescriptionA sermon on "those who do not trust God". It begins, "Though they will speak against God in the day, yet in the darkness of the night they are in doubt, especially when in distress and trouble or as another heathen observed when it thundereth, As it is reported that Caligul, would have counterfeited that thunder, & was a mocker if not a denyer of God but yet when it thundered in deed with the thunder… strike his ears and the lightening flasht in his eyes those terrible works of nature put him in such mind of the power of God and his own guilt of the justice of God that he would have hid his head and run under his bed for shelter…Though they will speak against God in the day, yet in the darkness of the night they are in doubt, especially when in distress and trouble or as another heather observed when it thundereth, As it is reported that Caligul, would have counterfeited that thunder, & was a mocker if not a denyer of God but yet when it thundered in deed with the thunder… strike his ears and the lightening flasht in his eyes those terrible works of nature put him in such mind of the power of God and his own guilt of the justice of God that he would have hid his head and run under his bed for shelter…' Refers to 'Cardinal Woolsey etc. c. who though in their heath, wealth, pomp, & prosperity they either denyed or at least lived without or as if there had been no go when when they was in trouble or anguish their thoughts was changed by minds troubled & they afraid of God and his displeasure."
